The Last Will and Testament of John Watt deceased || In the name of God Amen. I John Watt of Washington County in the State of Maryland being sick and weak in body but of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding and being desirous to settle my worldly affairs do therefore make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form following: that is to say. First and principally I commit my soul into the hands of Almighty God and my body to the earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my Executors herein after named and after my debts and funeral charges are paid I desire and bequeath as follows.I give and bequeath unto my son Archibal Watt the sum of five hundred dollars to be paid by my executors as follows: fifty dollars annually until he shall have received the sum of two hundred dollars and the balance at the death of my wife or when the last of my Real Estate shall be sold. Item. I give and devise unto my son John Watt all the tools and implements belonging and used by me in my trade as chair maker and Wheel Right. I give and I bequeath to my daughter Elizabeth Watt, wife of James Watts one half dozen dishes and spoons and my family Bible. [the previous sentence inserted between two lines] Item. I give and bequeath unto my sons John Watt and William Watt five Negro Slaves named Clarebelle, Nancy, Betsey, Isaac and Joseph to be valued immediately after my death and one half of the valuation of the five slaves above bequeathed to be paid by sons John and William to my two daughters Polly Parrott wife of Edmond Parrott and Eizabeth Watts wife of James Watts or their heirs share and share alike. Item, I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Eve the farm where I now live for and during her natural life. or the "anual" rent thereof to be valued and secured to her by my Executors and f... and after the decease of my wife I give the said farm or money arising from the sale thereof to my four children, John, William, Polly Parrott wife of Edmund Parrott and Elizabeth Watts wife of James Watts and their heirs or assigns to be divided equally among them share and share alike.I also give and bequeath to my wife Eve for and during her natural life a Negro Woman Slave named Winna and her choice of my feather beds one tin plate Stove. One corner Cupboard and its contents in furniture some necessary articles of kitchen furniture at the discreation of my executors and from and after her decease the Negro Woman Winna and her issue I give to my son John and William to be valued and one half of her and her issues value to be paid by them to my daughters Polly Parrot and Elizabeth Watts or their heirs. Item, I devise and bequeath all the rest and residue both real and personal to be equally divided among my sons John and William and my daughters Polly Parrott wife of Edmond Parrott and Elizabeth Watts wife of James Watts in equal portions share and share alike. Between Edmond Parrot & Mary his wife, James Watts and Elizabeth his wife, John Watt and William Watt of the county of Washington and State of Maryland of the first part and George Sweitzer of the same county and state aforesaid of the other part witnesseth that the said Edmond Parrott and Mary his wife James Watts and Elizabeth his wife, John Watt and William Watt for and in consideration of the sum of four thousand three hundred and fifty dollars fifty cents to them in hand paid by the said George Sweitzer ... sell ... all that ... tract of land situate lying and being in Washington County beginning at a white oak then being a boundry of a tract of land called Toneleway Creek and running thence down and with a creek called little Toneluny North thirty one degree, East nineteen perches North eighty two and a half degrees East forty four perches North fifteen & a half degrees West Twenty five perches to a Boundery tree of a tract of land called Polks Meadow, thence North one and a half degrees West forty eight perches North twenty degrees east fifty two perches North chains and an half degrees East thirty eight perches, south sixty seven andan half degrees East sixty seven perches South seventy five degrees east seventy perchs south twenty ... degrees West forty six perches south twenty degrees west twenty four perches south thirty seven degrees west fifty seven perches south five degrees east thirty five perches south ...[description not completely extracted] containing 142 acres of land and one hundred and thirty six perches more of sess and being part of the tract of land situate lying and being in the county aforesaid the one called Polks Meadow and the other called caladonia with the right ...The said Edmond Parrott and Mary his wife James Watts and Elizabeth his wife doth hereby constitue and appoint Nicholas Parrott and John Parrott, jointly and severally their attourny or attournies authorizing them or either of them to acknowledge this deed for and as their act and deed of the said Edmond Parrott and mary his wife James Watt and Elizabeth his wife...
