My Paternal Grandfather John J Cowan, was born in Tennessee in 1813 and migrated to Tishomino MS. The results of my YDNA test with the substantial help from Terry Cowan indicates My Grandfather's father was Joseph W Cowan born about 1772 who died in Limestone County AL in 1832. Updated 2023: I have a lot more data now than 12 years ago when I wrote this. Now DNA tested through multiple sources, including the Big Y.

I'm a Pequa Cowan with a well-documented heritage.
