For some years now I have been involved with the partial restoration of Loudoun Kirk, near Galston and my interest in history and family history has stretched beyond my own personal interests to researching families of the Loudoun/Galston parishes, particularly in relation to Loudoun Kirk. (web site http://www.geocities.com/loudkirk for more information). A graveyard survey of Loudoun Kirkyard has been completed and at present we are trying to create as many family trees as we can for all visible gravestones. The histories have been created as far as possible and using as much free information as possible, with only the occasional visit to scotlandspeople to confirm events - the GEDCOM's have been added to this site. All the information we have is just a little too much for us to add to this site, however The Friends of Loudoun Kirk, (a Scottish recognised charity) have created a wiki site specifically for Loudoun/Galston parishes. We have a reasonably amount of information, such as transcriptions of birth, marriage and death registrations for these areas as well as lists of valuation rolls, 1851 trade directory. Our wiki site is http://loudounkirk.wetpaint.com/ All of our information is free for personal use and we will be happy to hear from anyone with connections to Loudoun or Galston parishes.

It has been some time since the GEDCOM's were exported from the files so may be out of date a little, also this is the first time I have used this site and am still a learner. I also suffer from gremlins and at the moment they are keeping me from reading some FH files which I keep on a pen drive external storage and which I've manage to break. Once I get a new card reader, I can retrieve the info. Transcribed information isn't always acurate, however it does serve as a guide and all information should be backed up by searching the original documents such as OPR's and BDM registrations/certificates. Most of the original material I have used has been transcribed on our own wiki site. I do not infringe copyright laws, however I do make mistakes and if anyone finds anything on any of the information I have downloaded which is thought to be a breach of copyright, please let me know.
