Savage appears to have simply copied Butler's History of Groton (1848) p. 418. The probate of his first wife's father, William Lakin (Middleses Probate 13501), includes an agreement of heirs in 1718 in which eldest son William and John Nutting share a parcel of land. John Nutting would only inherit anything if he was still married to Mary Lakin. Thus the marriage in 1708 to Mary Parker is the son John Nutting as indicated in Brainerd's Nutting Genealogy, p. 18. --Jrich 17:40, 31 October 2017 (UTC)
