Defect 1 [23 January 2016]

Multiple errors. Savage appears to be caught copying from NEHGR, Vol. 6, p. 317, which unfortunately contained errors. The son did not marry Abigail Collins, she was the father's second wife, and the father names his wife Abigail in his will of 1693 [Essex Probate 9263]. Per Lynn VRs, p. 134, "Thomas, jr." m. 6 Dec 1682, Elizabeth Hood, and Elizabeth is the name of the wife in the son's will dated 1730 [Essex Probate 9264]. Also per Lynn VRs, the marriage of Abigail Collins to Thomas (no Jr. specified) was "Mar. 3, 1680-81", not "3 Mar. 1682" as Savage reports. (This is the widow of John Collins and her first marriage in 1655 indicates she is the wrong age to marry Thomas Jr. who was born about 1657. Her daughter Abigail Collins would have been a better match, but m. 1678 to Andrew Townsend (Lynn VRs, p. 101). Meanwhile John Collins was declared dead (lost at sea) in 1679, showing that the widow was not the one who married Andrew Townsend, and leaving her as the only Abigail Collins eligible to marry in 1680-81). --Jrich 16:16, 23 January 2016 (UTC)
