of John, had five or six ws. and ch. perhaps not by all; Mary, b. Feb.
1674, d. at two yrs.; Samuel, 16 May 1677; John, 12 Sept. 1679, d.
next mo.; Joseph, 1 Jan. 1681; and his first w. Mary d. the same mo. By
sec. w. Elizabeth d. of John Lyman, m. 29 Mar. 1683, wh. d. 6 July 1689, he
had Mercy, 6 Nov. 1683, d. in few days; Ebenezer, 15 Mar. 1685, d. young;
Mehitable, 5 Sept. 1686, d. young; and Elizabeth 14 Jan. 1689; and by
third w. Rebecca Dumbleton, m. 1 Mar. 1693, had Ebenezer, 16 Jan.
1694; was freem. 1690, and d. 1716. JOSIAH, Springfield, youngest

and James, was s. of Thomas of Pontypool, in Wales, had w. Lydia,
wh. d. 13 Nov. 1707, and only d. Phebe, wh. m. 6 Nov. 1694, Samuel
Hill of Duxbury, whither he rem. and d. 5 July 1708. RICE, Rehoboth
1644, had Rachel, b. 26 Jan. 1674; Sarah, 16 Mar. 1676; and his
w. Sarah was bur. 16 Mar. foll. SAMUEL, Bridgewater, s. of Solomon,
sett. the est. of his f. 1686, wh. says Mitchell, was the first in Plymouth;
tho. I do not kn. what he means by the phrase. He rem. to Worcester.
SAMUEL, Taunton, s. of Thomas, m. 17 Apr. 1701, Catharine,
d. of Thomas Deane, had four s. wh. were all deac. and five ds. d.
13 Apr. 1745. SOLOMON, Duxbury 1637, rem. to Bridgewater 1645,
had Solomon, Samuel, John, Jacob, Mary, and Isaac. He d. 1686, leav.
wid. Mary. His d. Mary m. 24 Dec. 1673, John Pollard. THOMAS,
Taunton, eldest s. of the first James, b. prob. in Eng. m. at Plymouth,
21 Aug. 1662, Mary Watson, prob. d. of George, had Mary, b. 2 Aug.
1663; Thomas, 22 Jan. 1666; John, 18 May 1668; George, 18 Apr.
1671; Samuel, 1 Feb. 1674; Elkanah, 15 May 1677; James, 17 Dec.
1679, d. young; Seth, 28 Apr. 1682, d. at six mos.; Phebe, 3 Mar.
1684, d. next yr.; and Elizabeth 15 July 1686; and he d. 24 Nov. 1713, in
72d yr. His wid. Mary d. 1 Dec. 1723, in 81st yr. THOMAS, Taunton,
s. of the preced. had w. Joanna, but I kn. no more. URIAH, Taunton,
youngest s. of the first James, m. 1 June 1685, Elizabeth d. of Thomas Caswell,
had Uriah, b. 10 Apr. 1686; William; James; Seth; Jonathan;
and Margaret. Eight of this name had, in 1834, been gr. at Harr.
eight at Yale, and fourteen at other N. E. coll.
