Boston, an import. man, was constable 1693; rep. 1700, capt. and some
yrs. selectman. He was s. of the first Jonas by sec. w. d. 15 June 1737,
aged 80. He had large share in settlem. of Bristol, lib. there, 1689, with
w. and five ch. and his will gave all his est. (exc. £20. to the poor of Dr.
Colman's ch.) in equal sh. to his seven ch. Jonas, Sarah Paine, Mary Ruck,
Margaret Fitch, Catharine Drowne, and heirs of Abigail Parrot, and of Prudence
Kneeland, dec. and nam. Bryant Parrot and John Kneeland guardns. of their
respective ch. mak. s. Jonas, Shem Drowne, and Joseph Fitch excors.
TRISTRAM, or THURSTON, Plymouth, came from Ipswich, Co.
Suffk. in the Francis 1634, aged 44, prob. with w. Faith, tho. not nam.
in the list of the custom ho. certain. with d. Faith, 15, wh. m. 6 Jan.
1635, Edward Dotey, and next m. 14 Mar. 1667, John Phillips, and
surv. him. He had rem. to Duxbury, and d. 6 Dec. 1661; had s. Thurston,
and Henry, both imbec. put under guardians. URIAH, Roxbury, s.
of Hugh, by w. Joanna, in Boston, had Uriah, b. 5 Oct. 1677; but by w.
Mary had at R. Thomas, 29, bapt. 30 Nov. 1679; John, 10, bapt. 12 Feb.
1682; Mary, bapt. 26 Aug. 1683, at the same time with her br. Uriah;
and a ch. b. in Apr. 1685, that d. soon; Hannah; Richard; rem. 1693 to
Watertown, and had Peter, 12 Mar. 1694, H. C. 1712, a celebr. min. of
Danvers, progenit. of a num. line; Benjamin, 6 Nov. 1696; Nathaniel,
20 June 1698; and Samuel, 15 July 1700. Soon after his w. d. and he
m. 21 Nov. of that yr. third w. Martha Pease, had Susanna, 13 Nov.
1701, d. young; and Pease, bapt. 2 Aug. 1703. But the gr.stone inscript.
makes w. Hannah, aged 25, d. 28 Feb. 1682, as in Geneal. Reg. XIV.
52, and this, or Bond, 160, must be wrong. He was selectman
1699 and 1700; and d. 26 July 1721, in his will of 27 May preced. of
wh. s. Richard was excor. names w. liv. ch. Peter, Richard, Benjamin,
Uriah, Nathaniel, Samuel, Mary Kimball, and Hannah Clark, and for
the wid. and ch. of his s. John, as well as for Elizabeth Hastings on acco. of
dec. s. Thomas, was tender remembr. yet it is not seen in Bond, that s.
Pease was ment. in it. The name is pervert. to Uzijah in Geneal. Reg.
V. 394. WALTER, Newport, eldest s. of Jeremiah (an absurd tradit.
that he was b. a. 1637, on the ocean, prob. had its origin from the sound
of his name, Water), by first w. Content, bur. 27 Mar. 1666, had, perhaps,
near half of his ch. but one was a s. whose name is not told, and
only Mary, b. 11 Jan. or Feb. 1662, is ment. By sec. w. m. 1666, Hannah,
d. of Richard Scott sec. of N. wh. d. 24 July 1681, he had Hannah, 28
Oct. 1667; beside other ds. Catharine, 1 May 1669; Content, 1 Aug. 1671;
and Deliverance, 16 June 1678. His s. Jeremiah, b. 21 Feb. or Mar. 1674,
wh. d. young, was prob. his only one, if Francis, b. 17 Jan. or Feb.
1673, were a d. as is supposed. The third w. was Freeborn, d.
of famous Roger Williams, wid. of Thomas Hart, wh. he m. 6
Mar. 1683, and wh. d. 10 Dec. 1709. Late in life he m. 1711 fourth
w. Sarah, d. of Matthew Prior of L. I. wid. of John Gould. He
was a Quaker, and emin. for attract. confidence of his brethr. had been
dept.-gov. bef. 1676, in wh. yr. of trial he was chos. gov. again in 1686,
made one of Andros' Counc. by K. James II. when he unit. the N. E.
cols. and gov. again after the separat. 1696, 7 and last in 1700, and d.22
May 1714, aged 74. Hannah m. 26 Sept. or Nov. 1691, the first Thomas
