eldest ch. hav. double portion), Jeremiah, and Mary only are nam. No
dates of the b. of either being kn. I much incline to suppose, that some,

freem. 17 May 1637; when the spell. is Bircher, yet in the custom ho.
rec. at London was giv. Burchard, and he wrote it Birchwood; rem. to
Hartford, where he had been an original propr. tho. not a first sett. again
rem. to Saybrook, of wh. he was rep. 1650 and 1, and d. 1684. Plausib.
conject. may be rais. that he went back to R. where it appears by the ch.
rec. "goodw. Birchard was bur. 24 Mar. 1655," and as the town rec. is
silent, it would be thot. that she was on a visit to her old friends, and it
might be suggest. that they liv. within the edge of Dorchester, where the
rec. gives dec. of one Thomas B. 3 Oct. 1637. Sarah m. 1647, at Hartford,
