Highway Robbery

HIGHWAY ROBBERY. —Information reached Melbourne on Wednesday from St. Aruaud that a laborer, named Race Pryke had re-ported to the local police that about half-past 8 o'clock pm on Sunday last he was riding along the main road towards St. Ar-naud, and when near Garaporee, two men suddenly rushed from the bush, and inter-rupted his passage. One of the men pre-sented a revolver at him, and ordered him to dismount, and deliver up his money. The other fellow also stood over Pryke with a resolver. Pryke dismounted, and give the robbers £2. The matter was reported to the police on the following morning, when two mounted constables started in pursuit of the desperados, of whom, however , no trace could be found.
