SANDHURST CIRCUIT COURT.

Wednesday, 4th October.
(Before His Honor Chief Justice Stawell.)
His Honor took his seat on the Bench at ten o'clock precisely. There was a crowded Court.

MANSLAUGHTER.

Christopher and Maria Balderstone were charged with manslaughter, they, while in a state of drunkeness, having overlain their female child, and thereby caused her death.
The particulars of this case have already appeared in our columns in our report of the inquest on the body of the child.
Mr Stay the prosecutor for the Crown, applied for a remand as there was additional evidence to be brought forward, and because of the short time which bad elapsed since the committal, he was not yet prepared with the case. He did not object to the prisoners being admitted to substantial bail.
His Honor said he would read over the depositions taken at the inquest, and the prisoners were ordered to stand down in the meantime.

CHARGE OF MANSLAUGHTER.

Christopher and Maria Balderstone were then again brought forward, when the husband was discharged on his own recognizance in the sum of L100 to appear at the next General Sessions; and the wife, on her securing two sureties of respectable householders in L25 each, for her appearance at the same time.
