A SERIOUS CHARGE.

Inglewood, 23rd July.
At the Police Court to-day a young man named Arthur Goltz, aged about 18 years, and a resident of Tarnagulla, was charged with unlawfully assaulting a girl of 13 years on the 3rd July, near Kingower. Superin-tendent Molyneaux, who prosecuted, applied to have the charge altered to one of assault with intent. Mr. Horan, who appeared for tho accused, objected, and the bench (Mr. Greene, P.M.) decided to hear the evidence on the more serious charge. The evidence of several witnesses was heard. Accused, act-ing on the advice of his counsel, reserved his defence, and was committed to stand his trial at the Bendigo Criminal Court on Tues-day, 9th August. Bail was applied for and allowed.
