Template:SpeculativeHusband/doc

This template is used on a Person or Family page to identify a possible husband of the person or as part of the couple, when the relationship is neither generally accepted nor convincingly shown to be incorrect.

Usage

Place the following on the Person or Family page.

{{SpeculativeHusband|PersonPageName}}

where PersonPageName is the simple page name (without the "Person:"), like "George Washington (1)".

When using this template, it is particularly important to support the speculation with sources and notes. An unsupported speculation is not compelling.

You should also add a corresponding "SpeculativeWife" or "SpeculativeFamily" template on the speculative husband's page. That template usage should give the Person or Family page name of the page you use this template on.

Suggested Placement

This template was designed for placement in the "Description" field of an event/fact (a fact type of "Other" can be used), rather than for use within a narrative (note the label included in the display). However, it can be used in the "Narrative" section, followed by an explanation for the speculation.

Example

{{SpeculativeHusband|George Washington (1)}}

will appear as:

Speculative husband: George Washington (1)

See conventions for speculative family relationships for examples of how to use speculative relationship templates in pairs for various situations.
