The Big Spring tract was on the opposite side of the Great Road from John Kirk's tract and stone house. Perhaps Hin (sic) was a transcription error. The Big Spring branch tract definetly belonged to George Hice and neigbored James Thompson and Aaron Lewis. This area---originally called the Indian fields---was choice fertile land. No wonder surveyor James Patton KBIs staked the Kilmackroan tract for himself. Jerry (28 June 2008, personal communication on the Walker Shortlist
- ↑ Hamilton discusses this pension application, and believes the killing of Joseph Starnes father (Joseph Starnes Sr), Uncle Frederick, and Michael Moyer's occurred in Wise County. He also reviews the identity of Fredericks Starnes wife (possibly Mary Goldman, dau of Jacob Baker, possibly Mary Baker daughter of Humphrey Baker. ID's Pension Statement S-6700, National Archives.
