From Norm Addington, 11 March 2010,Q 13:57, 12 March 2010 (EST) Hi Bill, A number of people have wondered what happened to Patrick Porter Violin. I have had the violin since late 2006 as you will see in the attached story. I not only treasure this heirloom but I believe in sharing it with all the Porter cousins. I take the violin to the Porter Reunion every year that is now held in Nickelsville, Scott County, VA as well as other events. Photos from 2009 reunion can be seen at http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~vaschs2/porter-2009.htm . You will see a number of the cousins holding the violin as well as a very talented ten year girl, Lenora Dingus, playing the violin. The rattlers are still in the violin. I don’t know if the rattlers help but the violin still has a great tone. I met the previous owners, Alfred and Mary Sorenson, about 18 years ago. Mary was a Patrick Porter descendant thru Patrick Porter, Jr. Norm Bill Please share the article and photo. Norm |
