Origin of Surname Stalnaker

STALNAKER — Derived from the German word "Stahal" or "Stahl" meaning Steele, and "Xagel," a sharp point or spear. Then the original word was Stahl-nagel, meaning a sharp pointed Steele spear. So the name was, perhaps, first applied to a warrior who was armed with such a weapon.
