"The early records of our strain of the STUMP family, comes mostly by word of mouth, as...few records were kept. So the best information we have is that our Great-Great-Grandfather PETER STUMP whose date, and place of birth is unknown. Had [sic] a half brother Christopher Stump, and they lived in Berks Co., Penn. not far from Philadelphia, and that Great-Great-Grandfather who was of German decent, Md. [sic] a lady by the name of Catharine Widen (or Widon), about the year 1772. She was of low Dutch decent from Holland...it is said G-G-Grandpa Peter Stump lived in Loudoun Co., Va. till about 1801, or 2 and then moved to Hampshire Co., W. Va., and that all their children were married in Loudoun Co., Va...."--p. 4. Descendant Elizabeth Jane Stump born 3 April 1829 in Farquier Co., Va. (?) to Benjamin and Elizabeth Ann Seaton Stump, joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Council Bluffs, Iowa in 1850 or 51. She married Solomon McIntosh, a widower, at Council Bluffs in 1851. They went west by wagon train to Utah eventually settling in Tooele. They later divorced. Elizabeth then moved to Pond Town (later named Salem) where "... she met and married Uriah Curtis in 1859."--p.12. After the death of Uriah Curtis she married Dr. William Taylor Dennis on 1 April 1872 and moved to Marysvale, Utah. The couple later separated and Elizabeth "...returned to Moroni, and dropped the name of Dennis. But retained the name of Curtis by which she went for the rest of her life."--p. 13. She died 19 May 1909. Descendants lived in West Virginia, Ohio, Kansas, Iowa, Utah and elsewhere.
