According to Chronicling America, this newspaper has been published under its present name since 1985. Prior to 1985, from 1891, it was known as The Daily Pantagraph; prior to this, from 1879, it was known as The Bloomington Daily Pantagraph. The Daily Bulletin, published from 1891 to 1927, ended its run with a merger into The Daily Pantagraph. From 1871 to 1878, the work was known as Bloomington Pantagraph; from 1870, Bloomington Daily Pantagraph; from 1857, The Daily Pantagraph, this being the first title of the periodical.

'The Pantagraph' is a daily newspaper that serves Bloomington–Normal, Illinois, along with 60 communities and eight counties in the Central Illinois area. Its headquarters are in Bloomington and it is owned by Lee Enterprises. The name is derived from the Greek words "panta" and "grapho," which has a combined meaning of "write all things."
