Martin Housel's Will.
The last WILL and Testament of Martin Housel West Buffalo Township, Northumberland County, in the name of God Amen - I Martin Housel, being of sound mind and memory but weak in Body and my Health much in pain and being ____-cible of Dessolation do this Eihteenth day of October in the year of our Lord One thousand and eight hundred and four, make this my last Will and testament in mannor and form following viz. First I resign my soul to God that gave it and my Body to the Dust in Hopes of a joyful Resurection through the merits of my Redeemer and for my worldly goods where with GOD has blest me I disposed of as follows viz. My Land I give and bequeath to my two Sons Jacob and Joshua to be divided as follows. TO my son Joshua Housel I give 50 acres of the lower end where I now live and he is to give his mother the back room and find her in firewood and keep one Cow and one Calf while she remains my widow; and he is also to pay one hundred pounds in part as legacy to my four daughters_. To my son Jacob Housel I give the remainder of my land and he is to give his mother one fifth bushel of the wheat, the Indian Corn, Buckwheat and twenty pounds of Flax from the ____ yearly and to keep one Cow half the time while she remains my Widow and is to pay one hundred pounds as the other part of the Legacy to my four Daughters and to my Daughter Catherine Mary Elizabeth and Sarah I give fifty pounds each to be paid by my two Sons as before menioned in ten years after my Decease in Regular Yearly payments and my two Sons is to find their mother a Horse whenever She shall want and to my Wife Aulcha I give one Bed and Bedding there to at her choice and one Cow as she shall choose to be kept by my two Sons as above named and my personal Estate is to be sold and after paying all expences and my Just Debts the remainder to be equally divided between my Wife and Children and if there is not enough to pay my son Jacob is to pay the rest out of his part. And I do appoint my beloved Sons Jacob and Joshua Housel and my trusty friend Christopher Johnston as my Executors to execute and perform this my last WILL and TESTAMENT. In Testimony whereof I have herein set my Hand & Seal the Day & Year above written. __ Martin Housel (seal) Signed & Sealed in the presence of Moses Servis, Abel Johnson__ Note in addition to the foregoing Legacy left my Son Jacob Housel I give the Spring Colt Witness my hand and Seal the Day and Year before named Martin Housel (Seal) Witnesses Present Moses Servis Abel Johnson__ Northumberland County

So Beit remembered that on the Second Day of September in the year of our Lord 1805. Before me Jeremiah Simpson ESQ. Register for the County afsd personally appeared Moses Servis & Abel Johnston the two Subscribing Witnesses to the foregoing WILL _?_?_? being duly Sworn according to Law, Saith they were personally present & did see Martin Housel the Testator Sign Seal & Declare the foregoing writing to be his last Will and Testament. That at the Time of his so publishing the said WILL he was of sound and disposing mind & memory as Deponents does believe according to the best of their Knowledge and Understanding. And that the names Moses Servis & Abel Johnston wrote at witnesses at the same time are of their respective hand writings. Beit rememb'd that on the Second Day of September in the Year of our Lord 1805.
