From the Introduction

Here at last are presented the results of more than forty years of research into the Meador family. Within these three volumes are named more than 37,000 descendants of Thomas Meador and their spouses, encompassing up to sixteen generations.

In a previous volume, in collaboration with co-author Bernal M. Meador, a detailed accounting was made of the immigration of our ancestor, Thomas Meads/Meador, who came from England about 1630 to Virginia, and of the ensuing four generations. This work was intended to lay the foundation for succeeding books, each to continue the lineage of the families as they scattered to Western Virginia, the Carolinas, and to all states west and south. The present volumes are such a work, and cover the descendants of four of these men: Jonas Meador, who died in Cumberland Co., Va.; Joel Meador, who died in Amelia Co., Va.; and Ambrose and Jeremiah Meador, who died in Bedford Co., Va. It is earnestly hoped that other Meador family researchers will continue to research and publish other branches of the Meador lineages.
