Information

Volunteers have worked backwards from current date and are copying obits from the 1932 local newspapers ( as of July 2013.) Throughout the years there have been a variety of years covered so we have a solid coverage 2013 to date –1932 but scattered coverage previous to 1932. The process involves examining the microfilmed newspapers in-house, copying pages containing obits, then entering data into obit file.

Contents of the database vary according to information gleaned from each obituary. Typically the name of the deceased, date of death and source newspaper are included. Relatives of the deceased may be included as well as date of birth and other comments. Copies of the obituary can be ordered from the library for a modest copying fee.
