The Internet Archive content was digitized in 2011 "with funding from Brigham Young University". The source material is an original text published in MDCCCLXXX or 1853. The Preface lists a number of major contributors in alphabetical order by surname, and is signed "The Publishers".
The Google Books source material is a 1985 full reprint of the original, commissioned and published by "Dodge County Reprint Committee". As of August 2022, the text is searchable can can be seen in "snippet" view, but is not available for general reading.
The Preface to the Reprint Edition reads:
- "The Western Historical Company published a history of Dodge County in the year 1880. The interest in this book encouraged the Affiliated Historical Societies of Dodge County to offer a reprint for history minded people.
- "The book is reprinted in its entirety, plus an index, which the original book did not have. It is hopeful that this reprint will aid future generations in history and genealogical research.
