The primary problematic areas are for the ancestors of "John Buckner the immigrant" in England (up to page 16, there is extensive reliance on sources that appear to have been forged); the account of the family of William Buckner of "the Neck" (putatively the son of Richard Buckner of Essex and grandson of John the immigrant); and the account of Thomas Buckner of "the Dragon", supposedly an immigrant brother of John Buckner - most of the evidence of this Thomas Buckner given to Crozier et al. by "Professor Stubbs" in the book has proved to be erroneous. Any data or conclusions derived from this book should be carefully verified from primary sources and especially if they are from one of those named areas. Almost all of the work on the "Buckners of Berkshire" is erroneous and appears to have been faked up in order to provide a flattering pedigree for John Buckner the immigrant. Since this book (or research that was commissioned for it) has been used very widely in other sources, including published encyclopedias on Virginia history, other secondary sources cannot be relied upon for verification.
