[edit] InLine Source[edit] Electronic Source[edit] NotesToward the end of the book is a presentation of the order of march for a parade celebrating the Fourth of July, 1788. The listing is of interest because it provides in considerable detail the contribution of various participants (mostly tradesmen) to the parade. One gets a clear impression of what a late 18th century parade might have looked like. Among the listings the author describes in slightly more detail than the others the presentation made by John Hewson and his family. Mrs. Alcock identifies herself as one of his daughters. |
