Cornwall Family History Society (Registered Charity No 288686)
"Since its beginning in 1976, the Society has aimed to become a ‘centre of excellence’ by encouraging Cornish family history research. This is being achieved by publishing a quarterly Journal, co-ordinating the transcription and indexing of over 5 million original records, maintaining a research library in Truro for members and the general public and offering a means of worldwide contact and exchange of information between members."

Society Database

Many members live outside Cornwall--in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, USA and other countries. As well as to encourage research into Cornish family history, the Society aims to co-ordinate, transcribe and index original records. This information is stored in a large database which is available to members able to visit Truro or online to Cornwall Family History Society members for a small extra fee. (See the tab "Transcriptions Progress and Society Holdings" under "Help and Advice".)

Locations Index (online)

This index is intended to give some Parish information together with photographs of churches, chapels, cemeteries and other places of interest within those Parishes. It includes the local addresses and the records available. (These are usually more easily obtained from the Cornwall Record Office than on the local site.)

Research Library

The Society maintains a Research Library in Truro for Society members and the general public.

Monday - 11.00 to 15.00
Tuesday - Closed to the public
Wednesday - 11.00 to 15.00
Thursday - 11.00 to 15.00 and evenings (by appointment only) 18.30 to 21.00
Friday - 11.00 to 15.00
Saturday - 10.00 to 13.00 (currently only the first Saturday of the month)
Sunday - Closed all day
