The Andover Historical Society is a busy and vibrant center for local history located in scenic downtown Andover, Massachusetts.

Mission

The Andover Historical Society tells the unique stories of Andover through its museum, library, archives, exhibitions and programs. The Society fosters an appreciation for the importance of local history and preservation to a vibrant community life. Mission is collecting, preserving, exhibiting, and interpreting papers and objects of historical significance.

History

The Amos Blanchard House and Barn Museum in downtown Andover, Massachusetts, recreates the life and times of a typical middle-class family of the early 19th century. Educational programs and changing exhibits explore many aspects of Andover's fascinating 350-year history.

The Andover Historical Society, founded in 1911, maintains the museum and operates a library, archives and research center where objects and documents of local historical significance are collected, preserved, exhibited and interpreted.

Usage Tips

Tours are given of the Amos Blanchard House and Barn Museum where exhibit rooms recreate the life of the Blanchard family in the early 19th century. There is no charge for admission but donations are accepted.

The Research Library is open 10am-4pm Tuesdays thru Saturdays, and other times by appointment. Please call (978) 475-2236 to schedule an appointment.
