Foto's [18 November 2012]

Ik krijg bij de beide links naar images een 404 error, en als die blijft wil ik de links graag weghalen. Ik wil echter ook wel alternatieven zoeken, en heb zelf ook nog detailfoto's van een paar grafstenen. Interesant?--Enno 10:06, 18 November 2012 (EST)

I had added these links to quite a few Groningen pages, it's unfortunate they are all now 404's :-( I wonder if it would be best to replace these with a link to http://www.beeldbankgroningen.nl. --Jennifer (JBS66) 10:40, 18 November 2012 (EST)

The beeldbank link looks good to me, but links like these are difficult, because you never know how long they stay on-line with the URL's that we use today.

I have some recent pictures here, but the problem with those is that they do not give a complete image of what's left of Oterdum, because we concentrated on specific names on tombstones then.

I'm inclined to put those tombstone pictures on a MySource page. Would that be an idea?--Enno 10:54, 18 November 2012 (EST)

I can create a template for the BeeldbankGR and put the beginning part of the URL in it with a parameter for the search term. Then, if they change their URL structure, we could change the URL in one place.
Regarding the photos, are they photos of individual gravestones? If they are, you could create a page for the cemetery and add a gallery (example: Place:Riverdale Cemetery, Northbridge, Worcester, Massachusetts, United States). --Jennifer (JBS66) 11:12, 18 November 2012 (EST)

Ah, yes, I can create a separate cemetery page, but in the case of Oterdum, I think it's overdone. I mean, in its current state, Oterdum is nothing more than a group of tombstones on a dyke in the Delfzijl desert. Even the monument is not there at the moment, so the reality is even worse than what you see on-line.

When we were there, we really felt sad, because of what the planners did to this place, even though we understand the need to increase the strength of the defense against the waters of the Waddenzee. It feels strange to stand there between those stones, knowing that the actual remains of the people named on these stones are hidden meters below, instead of right below like you would normally expect on a cemetery.

Anyway, I think it's worth uploading some of the pictures that I have, because they are linked to persons watched by Klaas, so they are useful for the purpose of this site.--Enno 16:20, 18 November 2012 (EST)

It's definitely worth uploading the photos! One small note, there is a known bug when uploading photos. For example, you uploaded Image:Tombstone Grietje Steenhuis, 14 May 1870, Oterdum.JPG but it's not appearing on the page for Person:Grietje Steenhuis (1). The workaround is to first upload the image but do not enter anything in the Person/Family fields. Then, after the image is uploaded, click Edit, and add the Person/Family page links as you have done before. Save the page, the images will appear correctly. --Jennifer (JBS66) 16:48, 18 November 2012 (EST)

OK, done. I hope you don't mind my feet on the 2nd picture. :-)--Enno 17:05, 18 November 2012 (EST)
