How do we edit the "place information" column on the left? As I understand it, Dowlais and Georgetown are both parts of Merthyr, not an aka for it. I don't see an edit link over there, though. Also, I can't get more of the wikipedia entry to show on this page, even though there is substantially more information on there now. We could just paste the text in, but then we wouldn't get updates. Anyone have any thoughts?
- You can edit the place information column on the left by clicking on the "Edit" link at the top of the page. You'll then see boxes where you can enter/change the information about the place that gets displayed in the column on the left.
- If you want to create a new page for Georgetown, you can click on "Wiki" in the blue menu bar at the top of the page, then enter "Georgetown, Myrthyr Tydfil, Glamorgan, Wales" in the box in the middle of the page and press "Add new page". Enter "Merthyr Tydfil, Glamorgan, Wales" in the located-in box, along with any other information you want to add for the page, and save the page when you're ready.
- Adding more wikipedia text is not as easy as I wish it were. You can get instructions for doing it here. Since the main wikipedia article is already referenced in this Merthyr Tydfil place page, you want to focus on the instructions for incorporating text from additional sections of the wikipedia article.--Dallan 22:48, 7 November 2007 (EST)
- BTW, part of the problem may be that the FHLC alternate names were really for the Merthyr Tydfil town, not the principal area. I just noticed this, and moved the FHLC alternate names down to the town.--Dallan 10:12, 8 November 2007 (EST)
