Updating Buckinghamshire [9 August 2013]

It is getting on for 40 years since Buckinghamshire's present local governmental organization came into being and some recognition of this change in council structure needed to be addressed here in WR. The total of former urban districts and rural districts has been reduced to four. None of these had a WR page, but most of the information brought over from Wikipedia takes the existence of the four district councils as an accepted fact.

Buckinghamshire is my local "patch" and I hope that I can build up the current information given in WR to give users a better understanding of how the county was organized in the past and in the present.

I intend to introduce some useful English internet sources into Research Tips. So far this only includes the GENUKI list of registration districts 1837-the present, but there should be others including a encouragement to inspect the other data that GENUKI has to offer. GENUKI's pages have a very old-fashioned look to them, and many have been on the internet for a long time, but they continue to be updated and are always worth re-checking.
