Renaming error and page history prior to 30 Oct 2017 [30 October 2017]

I have made a terrible mistake re Breconshire, Wales--which is a County. Wikipedia name it as Brecknockshire and I was going to rename our placename to match it. Instead, I made a typo and called it "Brenockshire". I tried to change it back, but was told that Breconshire already existed, and the same thing happened if I tried to go to Brecknockshire as I had planned.
I then rewrote (expanded) the description of Breconshire and saved it under Breconshire.
Although all the places within the county still have Breconshire as part of their names, but they are sitting under Brenockshire (the original error).
Along with trying to unpick a mistake that I am responsible for, I am wondering why I was not warned that I could not change the name of a place which had contained places.
The basic thing that needs to be done is to link my new description for Breconshire to the same page as its Contained Places (or vice versa). The new description starts with a note explaining that Brecknockshire is also a viable name, but FamilySearch chose Breconshire.
I have made pages outside of WR for the list of Contained Places and for my new description.

Follow up: In this case, it was not possible to do a simple reversion of the redirect to this page, because additional edits had been made to both the new page title and to some of the contained place pages in the interim. Also, some of the contained place pages had been individually redirected themselves to new titles. This was further complicated by the fact that the bot program had already been enacted to edit all associated Source pages to the new Place link and to move all contained places under the new title.
To resolve, the redirect was removed from this "Breconshire" page and the desired content was added to re-establish the page. Then all associated Source pages for both this county page and any contained place pages were manually edited to correct the place link back to "Breconshire". Then all contained Place pages were manually edited to move them back under "Breconshire". [Note: Even after doing this, they continued to appear as contained places on the "Brenockshire" page as well. (?)]
When a redirect is performed, the history of the first page is moved over to the history of the new page. Since it is not possible to redirect "Brenockshire" back again to the title of this page, it is also not possible to move the history back (which now includes edits made to "Brenockshire" as well). For reference, this combined history is provided below:
