A Vision of Britain through Time provides the following description of Woodhouse (near Huddersfield) from John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales of 1870-72:

"WOODHOUSE, a chapelry in Huddersfield parish, [West Riding of Yorkshire]; within Huddersfield borough. It was constituted in 1844; and its Post town is Huddersfield. Population in 1861: 3,324. Houses: 674. The living is a [perpetual] curacy in the diocese of Ripon. Value: £150. Patron: the Bishop of [Ripon]. The church was built in 1824, at a cost of £4,000; and is in the early English style and cruciform, with tower and spire. There are two Methodist chapels and a national school."
