Whitley and Monkseaton was an urban district north and east of Newcastle upon Tyne made up of the settlements of Whitley Bay and Monkseaton. In 1954 it became the Municipal Borough of Whitley Bay and in 1974 it was made part of the new county of Tyne and Wear.
