Welwyn Rural District was a rural district in the administrative county of Hertfordshire, England from 1894 to 1974.

The district was formed by the Local Government Act 1894 from the area of the existing Welwyn Rural Sanitary District. An elected rural district council replaced the rural sanitary authority which had consisted of the poor law guardians of the area. The rural district comprised an area surrounding and including Welwyn which was only a village and civil parish at the time

The district was abolished on 1 April 1974 under the Local Government Act 1972, and its area became part of the Welwyn Hatfield District, a non-metropolitan district.
