Vernon Township is a civil township of Shiawassee County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 4,614 at the 2010 census. The village of Vernon is located within the township. The township also surrounds the city of Durand, but the two are administered autonomously.

Vernon Township was named after Mount Vernon, the estate of George Washington.
