Velva is a city in McHenry County, North Dakota, United States. The population was 1,086 at the 2020 census. Part of the Minot Micropolitan Statistical Area, Velva was founded in 1897.

Velva was settled in 1886 with the arrival of the Minneapolis, St. Paul and Sault Ste. Marie Railroad into the area. It was chartered as a city in 1905. The Hotel Berry was built in 1906 to serve railroad passengers and is now on the National Register of Historic Places.
