• "ST. EPHREM D'UPTON, or UPTON, a thriving post village in Bagot co., Que., on the G.T.R., 48 miles east of Montreal. It contains 2 churches, Episcopal and Roman Catholic, 1 Roman Catholic college and convent, 2 hotels, 8 stores, 1 grist and 2 saw mills, 1 furniture establishment and 2 tanneries. There are valuable copper mines in the vicinity. Pop. 839."
