Udhampur is a district in the Indian Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir. Covering an area of in the Himalayan mountains, the district has its headquarters in the town of Udhampur. The Northern Command headquarters of the Indian Army is located in the district. Some Parts of District Udhampur like Chenani ,Kud, Ladha Dhar are not in Udhampur District .These Three places are in District Ramban of Jammu and Kashmir.

At an elevation of the mountain resort of Patnitop and the temple at Sudh Mahadev believed to be over 2800 years old, are other popular tourist attractions of the district.

The major languages spoken in the district are Dogri, Gojri, Hindi
