Tongland is a small village about 2 miles north of the town of Kirkcudbright. It lies on the west bank of the Dee near its confluence with the Tarff Water.

Tongland was located in the parish of Tongland in the former County of Kirkcudbrightshire in southwest Scotland. This area is now part of the unitary authority called the Dumfries & Galloway Council Area.
