Sutton cum Lound is a village located in the Bassetlaw District, of north Nottinghamshire. It is located 3 miles from Retford. The civil parish is called Sutton. According to the 2001 census it has a population of 687, including the hamlet of Tithby and falling slightly to 673 at the 2011 census. It borders the village of Barnby Moor which is about 1 mile away and is also very close to the village of Lound. Until 1866 Sutton and Lound were two townships in the parish of Sutton cum Lound, but in that year the two townships split into separate parishes. (Source: A Vision of Britain through Time) There is a civil parish named Tythby in the Rushcliffe District (formerly Bingham Wapentake and Bingham Rural District) in southern part of Nottinghamshire which can also be found as "Tithby".
