Thorpe by Water is a village and civil parish in the county of Rutland in the east midlands of England. The population at the 2001 UK Census was 56. At the 2011 Census the population remained less than 100 and was combined with that of the civil parish of Seaton.
Thorpe by Water was situated on the border between Rutland and Northamptonshire until 1885 when it was split and the section in Northamptonshire was transferred to the parish of Gretton. (A Vision of Britain through Time)
