The cemetery has its own website, which has an interment search facility. According to the site, the first claim on the land was by James Sullivan in 1886, which the origin of the cemetery's name. The cemetery was established in Aug 1903 as a 1.7 acre parcel purchased from Sullivan by David and Georgiana Heckindorn. Some of the early burials were transfers of graves from family homes to the parcel; others came from the now defunct Frisbee Plot. In March 1980, the cemetery passed into the hands of the county government; shortly thereafter, an association was established to manage and maintain the resource.
