A Vision of Britain through Time provides the following description of Stoke Talmage from John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales of 1870-72:
- "STOKE-TALMAGE, a parish in Thame [registration] district, Oxford; 5 miles SW by S of Thame [railway] station. Post town: Tetsworth. Acres: 859. Real property: £694. Population: 113. Houses: 22. The manor belongs to the Earl of Macclesfield. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Oxford. Value: £248. Patron: the Earl of Macclesfield. The church was recently restored."
