Rickmansworth Rural parish was created in 1898 when Rickmansworth became an Urban District covering only the more urban parts of the original parish.

According to the Ordnance Survey map of Hertfordshire 1900 provided by A Vision of Britain through Time the parish had three detached parts with Chorleywood located between the two western sections. The southernmost part stretched to the county boundaries with Buckinghamshire and Middlesex. The more northern part was located between Chorleywood and Sarratt. The third part was southeast of Rickmansworth Urban and contained the village of Batchworth Heath and the manor of Moor Park.

Rickmansworth absorbed the rural parish in three tranches, in 1913, 1924 and the final one in 1935 when the remainder of Rickmansworth Rural was transferred to Sarratt. (Source: A Vision of Britain through Time)

Settlements in the parish included West Hyde in the southern part and Croxley Green in the north. Both villages have been redirected here, but have articles in Wikipedia.
