Note: There is also a parish named Riccarton in Ayrshire, Scotland.

Riccarton is a village that was situated in the parish of Currie in the former Scottish county of Midlothian. With the rest of Currie parish it was absorbed into the City of Edinburgh in 1975.

The Riccarton Estate was formerly owned by the Gibson-Craig family. Riccarton House was built around a 16th-century tower-house, the home of noted jurist Sir Thomas Craig (c.1538-1608). Wikipedia gives a two-generation family tree of Sir Thomas Craig. In 1823 Riccarton House was extended by the architect, William Burn (1789-1870).
