From From Stewartry of Kirkcudbright Memorial Inscriptions pre-1855, vol 5, by Alison Mitchell, published 1996 by the Scottish Genealogy Society, Edinburgh, Scotland:

"A new church was built on the lands of Rerrick about the end of the 17th century. Thus the parish changed its name from Dundrennan to Rerrick at about this time. This church was altered and enlarged in 1743, 1793, and 1828, but proved unsatisfactory, so in 1866 it was replaced by the present parish church in the centre of Dundrennan Village.
"The burial ground remains at the old site of Rerrick parish church, a spacious wind-swept gentle slope at the end of farm lanes, with the 20th century extension alongside, it is kept in good condition."
