Rautjärvi is a municipality of Finland. It is located in the province of Southern Finland and is part of the South Karelia region. The municipality has a population of[1] and covers an area of of which is water.[2] The population density is . More than half of Rautjärvi's residents live in Simpele, the administrative center of municipality. The neighboring municipalities of Rautjärvi are Parikkala and Ruokolahti, while to the east is the Russian border. The municipality is unilingually Finnish.
