Preston under Scar (#26 on map) is now a civil parish and a village in the Richmondshire District of North Yorkshire, England. It is situated approximately 2 miles (3 km) west from Leyburn. The village population is 120.

At the south of the village stands Bolton Hall, the seat of the Barons Bolton.

There are remains of the old lead mining industry in the nearby Condenser Wood.

Prior to the nationwide municipal reorganization of 1974, Preston-under-Scar was located in Leyburn Rural District. Historically, it was located in the ecclesiastical parish of Wensley in the Hang West Wapentake.
