Old Berkeley County was created out of the (old) Charleston Circuit Court District (1769) South Carolina, United States. Old Berkeley County (1785) became Colleton Circuit Court District in 1800. Then became Colleton County, South Carolina in 1868. Then became Berkeley County (1882) in 1882.
