Nowlanville is located 7.42 km north of the Barnaby River, on the road to Nelson-Miramichi in Nelson Parish, Northumberland County. Patrick Nowlan, James Nowlan and Michael Nowlan were early settlers here. In 1866 Nowlanville was a farming community with about 15 families: Nowlanville became part of Nelson-Miramichi and is now within the city of Miramichi. (Source:Place Names of New Brunswick)
