Neath Hundred and today's principal area of Neath Port Talbot cover much of the same territory.

Neath Hundred is not covered by name in John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales of 1870-72. The description of the Registration District of Neath gives much a picture of a similar area in much greater detail.
