A Vision of Britain through Time provides the following description of Milland from John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales of 1870-72:

"MILLAND, a ville or extra-parochial place within Winchester city, Hants. Real property: £1,362; of which £198 are in a canal. Population: 211. Houses: 49."

A Vision of Britain through Time also describes Milland as a civil parish from 1858 until 1902. It ceased to be both an extra-parochial area and a ville in 1858. It was part of Winchester Municipal Borough from 1835 and was absorbed into the city in 1902, although part was lost to Chilcomb (a parish to the east) in 1889. English Jurisdictions locates Milland to the south of Winchester St. Michael.
